Turkey, Iran agree over Syrian crisis
Iran and Turkey have agreed on the Syrian crisis, Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said in Tehran at a press conference with his Turkish counterpart, ISNA news agency said on November 27.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Tehran and Ankara have reached a complete agreement about several issues related to the Syrian crisis. Zarif also noted that Tehran and Ankara are closely cooperating on Syria and try to achieve peace in the country before the conference on Syria, called Geneva-2.
According to the Iranian FM, Ankara and Tehran will make efforts to help the Syrian people before winter. The agency also said that the sides agreed that the Iranian FM will visit Ankara for the continuation of cooperation on the Syrian crisis
"Iran and Turkey will also cooperate in the prevention of radicalism and for rapprochement between Islamic schools," Zarif said.
Over 115,000 people were killed and more than 4.2 million people became refugees in Syria during the conflict, which began in March 2011. Two million people have fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees fell on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict was 20 million people.
