Basescu decorates Moldovan lawmakers for good work in Romanian language’s favor
Romanian President Traian Basescu has decorated 5 deputies of the Moldovan Parliament with high Romanian state awards for their “considerable personal contribution to the cause of recognition of Romanian as the official language of the Republic of Moldova”.
MPs Anna Gutu, Valeriu Munteanu, Corina Fusu, Boris Vieru and Gheorghe Brega have been decorated with “The Star of Romania” national orders. It was on their inquiry that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova arrived at a conclusion that the Declaration of Independence of Moldova is a document more important than the country’s Constitution, in which the country’s official language has been called as “Moldovan”.
