Violations of the embargo on imports of Russian petroleum products into the EU in August 2023 (database)

The Monitoring Group of the Black Sea Institute of Strategic Studies and BlackSeaNews reports on the results of its own monitoring of violations of the EU and G7 embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products from ports on the Black and Azov Seas (embargo) in August 2023 (see Table 1).
Note! The information provided does not apply to crude oil – the results of monitoring violations of the embargo on crude oil imports are presented separately.

In August 2023, 17 violations of the EU embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products (excluding crude oil) from the Black Sea were recorded.
3 direct voyages from Russian ports to those of EU countries were made.
The remaining 14 voyages included delivery of petroleum products to transshipment points: 11 – in the Laconian Gulf off the coast of Greece, 1 – off the coast of the Greek island of Crete, and 2 – off the coast of Malta.
In August 2023, a total of 563,843 tons of petroleum products were delivered to EU countries in violation of the embargo, compared with 808,547 tons in July 2023, and 730,497 tons in June 2023.
Direct tanker voyages were made to the following ports:

PIRAEUS (Greece),

ROUEN (France),

ANTWERPEN (Belgium),
3 direct voyages to the ports of EU countries were made by tankers belonging to companies from Greece, the USA, and Turkey.
14 voyages to transshipment points were made by tankers belonging to shipowners registered in the following countries:

India – 6,
-
Greece – 3,
-
Russia + the UAE (Russian companies re-registered in the UAE) – 3,

Turkey – 1,
-
Singapore – 1.
