Violations of the embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products from Black Sea ports into the EU in March 2023 (database)

The Monitoring Group of the Black Sea Institute of Strategic Studies and BlackSeaNews reports on the results of its own monitoring of violations of the EU and G7 embargo on the seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products from the ports on the Black and Azov Seas into EU countries (the embargo) in March 2023 (see Table 1).
Note! The information provided does not apply to crude oil – the results of monitoring violations of the embargo on the imports of crude oil are presented separately.

In March 2023, 18 violations of the EU embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products (excluding crude oil) from the Black Sea were recorded.
2 direct voyages with petroleum products from Russian ports to the ports of EU countries and 1 voyage to USA were made.
The remaining 15 violations involved the delivery of petroleum products to a transshipment point in the Laconian Gulf off the coast of Greece.
In March 2023, 737.856 tons of Russian petroleum products were delivered directly to the ports of EU countries, compared with 844.528 tons in February 2023 and 1.347.835 tons in January 2023.
Direct tanker voyages were made to the following ports:

ROUEN (France),

VALLETTA (Malta),

WILMINGTON (USA).
3 direct voyages to the ports of EU countries and USA were made by tankers owned by companies from Greece and Turkey.
15 voyages to the transshipment point were made by tankers belonging to shipowners registered in the following countries:

Italy - 1,

Panama – 1,

Marshall Islands - 1.
