Violations of the embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products from Black Sea ports into the EU in December 2023 (database)

The Monitoring Group of the Black Sea Institute of Strategic Studies and BlackSeaNews reports on the results of its own monitoring of violations of the EU and G7 embargo on the seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products from the ports on the Black and Azov Seas into EU countries (the embargo) in December 2023 (see Table 1).
Note! The information provided does not apply to crude oil – the results of monitoring violations of the embargo on the imports of crude oil are presented separately.

In December 2023, 16 violations of the EU embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products (excluding crude oil) from the Black Sea were recorded.
1 direct voyage with petroleum products from Russian ports to the port of EU country was made.
The remaining 15 violations involved the delivery of petroleum products to a transshipment point in the Laconian Gulf off the coast of Greece, Cyprus and Malta.
In December 2023, 35,648 tons of Russian petroleum products were delivered directly to the port of EU country and 516,245 tons were shipped to the transshipment point.
A total of 551,893 tons of Russian petroleum products were delivered to the EU in December 2023 in violation of the embargo.
Direct tanker (owned by shipowner from the USA) voyage was made to the port of RADICATEL (France).
15 voyages to the transshipment point were made by tankers belonging to shipowners registered in the following countries:

Italy – 1,

Offshore jurisdictions – 1 (The Marshall Islands).
