In April 2024, Russian occupation forces continued combined cruise/ballistic missiles-drones attacks on Ukraine. As in March 2024, the main targets were energy infrastructure, industrial facilities and logistics networks, including railways. The rational likely was to reduce the capabilities of the Ukrainian economy, specifically the energy sector, to facilitate resistance to aggression in general, and anticipated Russian 2024 spring-summer offensive, in particular.

In January-April 2024, for attacks on regions of Ukraine from the occupied Crimea, Russian Armed Forces used at least:

  • 15 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) ships, 9 of which in April, none in March, and 3 each in January and February
  • 40 Iskander-type ballistic missiles, of which 9 in April, 20 in March, 2 in February and 9 in January
  • 1 P-800 Oniks AShM (not used in January-February or April)
  • 3 3M22 Zircon missiles, none of which in April, 2 in March and 1 used for the first time in February
  • 687 Shahed-136/131 UAVs launched from Crimea and the regions of the Russian Federation, 69 of which in April, 226 in March, 169 in February and 223 in January
  • 255 Shahed-136/131 UAVs launched from Crimea, without simultaneous attacks from the RF, of which 77 in April, 96 in March and 82 in February; no data for January available
  • 22 reconnaissance UAVs such as ZALA, Supercam, Merlin-BP and Orlan-10, of which 9 in April, 4 in March, 3 in February, and 6 in January

Together, between January-April 2024, Russia carried out 68 attacks, including:
10 in January, 13 in February, 24 in March and 21 in April
