August trends and development:

In August, the nature of Shahed-131/136 drone attacks changed somewhat. First, only one attack (9 drones) was launched exclusively from Crimea, while the main attacks were launched simultaneously from Crimea and Russia's, mainly in the Crimea + Primorsko-Akhtarsk/Yeysk/Kursk format.

Secondly, while the number of attacks simultaneously from the TOT of Crimea and Russia's southern regions continued to decline - only 5 recorded - the number of drones used in each attack has increased totaling 184. Also, August set a record for the number of Shahed drones used in one attack: on August 26, 109 UAVs were launched against Ukraine's mainland from the above-mentioned Russian locations - almost the same number as in all of July (110).

Also in August, for the first time, a downing of the Russian medium-altitude long-range and reconnaissance UAV Orion was reported in the south of Ukraine. The drone has been used by the Russian army since 2020. The on-board equipment is designed for visual, radar or radio reconnaissance with the possibility of long-term patrolling in a designated area. The declared flight radius is up to 250 kilometers, while flight duration - up to 24 hours, provided that the payload is two 20-kilogram bombs or one 50-kilogram bomb. Prior to the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the UAV was the only classical reconnaissance and strike complex at the the Russian army's disposal.

After a break in July, the launch of Kalibr missiles from carriers in the Black Sea resumed. During the 26.08 powerful combined attack, the occupiers fired 28 missiles at different regions of Ukraine - the largest number of MRLS fired in one attack since the beginning of the year.
