New education year starts in Turkey on Monday

The new education year will begin on September 17 in Turkey.

Almost 17 million students and 800,000 teachers will be present at schools on September 17after a three months of summer recess.

The winter holiday will be between January 28 and February 8, 2013, and the second term will begin on February 11, 2013.

The 2012-2013 education year will end on June 14, 2013.

The National Education Ministry will distribute 187 million school books to students and teachers free of charge.

The 2013-2014 school year will begin on September 16, 2013.
