Voter turnout is 342,138 at Armenia’s local government elections

As of 8 p.m., 342,138—or 53.31 percent—of Armenia’s eligible voters have cast their ballots in the local self-government elections held Sunday in the country’s five regions, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

All 539 polling stations closed their doors at 8pm and vote counting has begun. The preliminary results will be announced no later than eighteen hours thereafter, the records on the voting results will be prepared on the fifth day following election day, and, subsequently, the preliminary results will be posted on the CEC website.

To note, local self-government elections were conducted in 318 communities of Armenia’s Aragatsotn, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, and Tavush regions. And solely one international organization—the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe—and fifteen local NGOs are conducting observation missions during this election process.
