Moldovan Ministry of Economy draws up a new Energy Strategy 2030
According to Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, the current version of the Strategy has been valid for 5 years and during this period many states have revised their priorities and objectives in the energy sector.
If Moldova wants to become a part of the European Energy System, it has promptly response to these changes. The Strategy is based on principles of the European integration and appraisals of the possible cooperation with Eastern partner of Moldova, Valeriu Lazar stressed.
Three main goals of the strategy include ensuring energy safety, creating competitive markets and integrating them into energy systems of the region and Europe, providing environmental sustainability and responding to the climate change. The new strategy offers solutions for energy efficiency problems, issues of sustainability of the sector, development of renewable sources and access of people to modern energy systems.
In the framework of the strategy the government of Moldova suggests to consolidate transporting ties with other states in order to ensure the transit of power and natural gas as well as to appraise inner possibilities of Moldova in energy generation. The Ministry suggests attracting powerful and experiences gas suppliers to the market of Moldova, Valeriu Lazar added. At the same time, he mentioned the traditional partners would remain preferable. Implementing this strategy is expected to make the energy market of Moldova competitive and prepared to the integration into the European system.
