GUAM foreign ministers to attend UN General Assembly
GUAM foreign ministers plan to hold a meeting on September 26 within the framework of the UN General Assembly session, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said, Trend reports.
She said that Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Moldova (GUAM) will discuss economic cooperation. US secretary of state will attend the talks.
Georgia will be represented by Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze who has arrived in New York. It will meet 40 delegations of the General Assembly.
GUAM was formed at the EU summit in Strasburg in 1997. Uzbekistan joined them the organization in 1999, only to quit it four years after. The GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development was announced in Kiev in 2006, becoming an international organization.
