Moldovan top court rejects gas operator's request to supply gas at non-regulated prices
The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) rejected on September 26 a request by the Moldovan-Russian joint venture Moldovagaz as groundless. Moldovagaz has contested a court ruling regarding gas supplies at non-regulated prices.
The CSJ left in force the ruling by the Court of Appeal, thus admitting as legal the refusal of the Chisinau-based Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) to grant Moldovagaz a license to supply gas at non-regulated prices.
The litigation between Moldovagaz and the ANRE has been lasting for over one year. In early 2011, Moldovagaz asked the ANRE to authorize it to supply gas at non-regulated prices. The ANRE turned down the request, noting that it runs counter to the regulation in force.
