A 3% rise in the number of tourists to Bulgaria
The number of foreigners, visiting Bulgaria in August 2012, amounted to 1 637.8 thousand people, which is by 2.7% lower comparing with July 2012 and by 3.3% higher than in August 2011. This information has been presented by the National Statistic Institute.
The largest relative share out of the total number of foreigners, visiting Bulgaria, is formed by European Union citizens – 64.3%. Comparing with August 2011, visits of residents of the European Union member states went down by 3.8%. A larger decline has been registered for visits of citizens of Spain – by 17.1%, Denmark – by 14.7%, Germany – by 12.5%, Italy – by 5.4%, and Great Britain – by 5.0%.
At the same time the Institute notes a growth in visits by citizens of Greece – by 2.8%, Belgium – by 1.7%, Romania – by 1.1%, and Austria – by 1.0%.
