Romanian ROMPETROL will invest US$1 billion in Ukrainian market over 5 years
Last week Romanian Rompetrol and «Naftogaz Ukraine» approved a feasibility study (FS) of the joint venture, told to Kommersant the «Rompetrol Ukraine» CEO Andrey Kuzmenko.
The FS provides for $1 billion of investment that the Romanian company will make over the next 5 years. «Right now we are completing the JV’s registration and in next year we will supply 350-400 thousand tons of oil products to Ukraine», - said Mr. Kuzmenko.
The main supplier of petroleum products to the JV will be Romanian refinery Petromedia - in five years its deliveries to Ukraine will reach 1.5 million tons, Rompetrol’s Vice-president Timur Azimov told the Kommersant.
According to him, for this purpose the plant has increased processing capacity from 3.5 million to 5 million tons of oil per year and has switched completely to producing the «Euro-5» standard fuel (with sulphur content 0.001%).
The joint venture will own a network of refuelling stations and will also to develop a franchise programme. They plan to have 700 stations in five years, the first 100 will open next year. Most of them will be in southern and eastern parts of Ukraine.
When these plans are put to life, the JV’s share of the Ukrainian retail market will be 23%, and of the wholesale market - 15%, say experts of «A-95» consulting company.
