Bulgaria lags behind in tourism
Bulgaria stands below the average European norm in view of the index of intentions for repeated visit of tourists to this country as well as the index of intention to recommend the destination.
According to a pilot survey launched among 108 foreign tourists to this country, only 21 said they would revisit Bulgaria, with an average norm for Europe of 48 percent. Less than half of the polled (43%) have declared that they would recommend Bulgaria to others as a tourist destination.
The European average figure is 71 percent. Sources from the tourist branch expect that the introduction of the systems for quality management and sustainable development in tourism would take Bulgaria closer to European standards. Such a project of the Ministry of the Economy, Energy and Tourism is sponsored under the Regional Development operational programme with a budget of over EUR 250 tourism.
