Moscow will not talk to Tbilisi about Abkhazia and South Ossetia
«We will conduct no negotiations on the fate of Abkhazia and South Ossetia with Georgia, as well as with anybody else» - said on October 9 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after talks with Tskhinvali counterpart David Sanakoev.
The Russian Foreign Minister explained this position as usual saying that «the fate of these republics were decided by their people, who voted for independence» - habitually referring to minority that was left there after the ethnic cleansing as «people» of the occupied regions of Georgia.
At the same time, Lavrov said that the parliamentary elections in Georgia won by the Georgian Dream coalition, which is now forming a new government «will allow the Georgian government that will be formed, to move towards normalization of relations with all its neighbours, including South Ossetia and Abkhazia ».
