Varna Archaeological Museum named the best Bulgarian regional museum in 2012
The museum received a diploma of the National Competition in Plovdiv for its contribution to the preservation of Bulgarian heritage.
This was announced by Professor Valentin Pletnev, director of the regional historical museum.
The diploma is issued, normally, for well-performed repair works at a museum, said the professor. In the Archaeological Museum, cost of repair has reached 970 000 leva, luxury showcases for 1.1 million leva have been purchased.
About 150 000 tourists have visited archaeological excavations in Varna from mid-May through late September. Revenues totalled about 550 000 leva, and the greatest contribution to the Archaeological Museum’s good financial result was made by the Aladzha Monastery and Roman Baths - almost 450 thousand BGN.
