Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline's construction to start in February 2013
Prime Minister Vlad Filat on October 15 met the head of the Romanian National Agency for Mineral Resources, Gheorghe Dutu, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Romanian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Marius Lazurca attended the meeting as well.
The officials discussed several subjects on the bilateral agenda of both states, related to the energy sector, including the construction of the gas pipeline Iasi-Ungheni. Gheorghe Dutu presented Filat the graphic of the works which are going to be performed on the Romanian territory.
«We suggest that works should start in February and complete by November 2013. We plan to announce in about 30 days the tender to select the executor, whereas seven months are enough to complete the works,» the head of the Romanian National Agency for Mineral Resources said.
The prime minister said Moldova has already met the necessary demands according to the commitments stipulated in the joint declaration from 17 July 2012, in the energy sector. Filat said technical documents necessary for the implementation of the project were elaborated, the route for the construction of the gas pipeline on the Moldovan territory was established and the acquisition of the terrains was accomplished.
