EU to support Georgia with EURO 760 million
EU ambassador to Georgia Philip Dimitrov declared that EU is going to allocate EURO 760 million to support Georgia. «Part of the sum will be used for the state budget, but another part will be spent for implementing new projects, including in the agriculture sphere,» said Dimitrov during press conference on October 15.
Dimitrov informed that a new, specific plan for Georgia-EU relations for the period of 2014-2020 has been worked out. He also said that he recognizes Georgia’s aspiration towards European structures and expressed hopes that the new government that will be formed by the winning coalition «Georgian Dream», will continue this «difficult path.»
«Our signals that if Georgia continues its democratic movement, the country will achieve great success on its way towards integration, stay in force,» said the ambassador.
He once again talked about the importance of parliamentary elections that were evaluated by the observers as fair and democratic.
«The representatives of international organizations often talked about the same thing – that the elections will be an important test for Georgia and the chance of peaceful transition of power. Georgia passed this text almost successfully. Now, we have a reason to thank political players and the citizens,» said Dimitrov.
