UNESCO project gathers ministers of culture in Sofia
Cultural heritage is one of the major aspects of Southeast Europe and it should be shared with the rest of mankind, said UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova at a conference of Ministers of Culture from Southeast Europe taking place in Sofia.
The conference is the first at the ministerial level carried out within the framework of the initiative «Culture – a bridge to development». The event was launched in 2011 by Irina Bokova and was dedicated to the cultural heritage of the entire region. Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov pointed out that Bulgaria is the only country in Europe where UNESCO has a regional center for non-material cultural heritage.
