Over 400 trees, shrubs were planted in Moldova
Over 400.000 trees and shrubs were planted in Moldova on October 28, within the national afforestation campaign «A tree for our perpetuation».
Moldovan top authorities attended the events dedicated to Moldova's greening. Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti planted trees in Lozova village. Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu planted trees in a park from Riscani town.
Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat planted trees on the territory of the forest yard Capriana, in Straseni district. Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca decided to contribute to the capital's afforestation and planted trees in a park from Telecentru capital district. Defence Minister Vitalie Marinuta together with over 100 militaries and employees of the ministry and the General Staff of the National Army planted over 500 seedlings in Telecentru capital district.
According to the Environment Ministry, experts expect areas with forest vegetation to expand on a 43-hectares surface. Traditionally for almost two decades, authorities organise large sanitation and afforestation activities of Moldovan localities every year. According to a presidential decree, since 1995 the bimonthly sanitation activities have been replaced by the greening action «A tree for our perpetuation».
