Flood early warning centre to be developed in Bulgaria before 2015

According to Bulgarian Minister of Environment and Water Nona Karadzhova, National Center for flood early warning will allow to obtain information in real time and prepare for floods at least five days in advance.

Karadzhova said, the main cause of flooding during heavy rains was the lack of efficient drainage system in many Bulgarian towns.

She reported that a new law for water and sewage sector was being developed, which should solve some problems.

Consolidation of water supply and sewage facilities will not lead to cuts in the sector and will not increase the price of water, said Karadzhova. On the contrary, this measure will result in reducing water rates in small communities.
