Bulgarians best value EU free movement opportunities
Bulgarians, more than any other European nationals, value their right for free movement within the EU.
This is a statement made for the BNR by Zinaida Zlatanova, head of the European Commission representation in Bulgaria. The occasion was the proclaiming of 2013 as the year of citizens.
The aim of the initiative is to focus attention on the meaning of being a citizen of the EU and especially on the rights this fact entails. According to Zlatanova surveys show that besides the free movement, Bulgarians also appreciate their right to good administration and the right to file complaints to the European Ombudsman.
Furthermore they value their direct access to European documents and institutions. However, they are less informed on their right to suggest a law, Zinaida Zlatanova adds.
