Russia’s Southern Military District aviation received new Mi-35M helicopter
Rostov airbase of Russia’s Southern Military District has received Mi-35M helicopter. Before the year’s end several more vehicles are planned to be delivered. By early 2013, the number of helicopters of this type deployed in Southern MD is supposed to reach about 20 vehicles.
Mi-35M is an upgraded version of the Mi-24 and is designed to destroy enemy’s armoured vehicles and personnel, to provide fire support to ground and airborne units, to evacuate the wounded, and to transport cargoes both in the hull and externally. One of Mi-35M’s design features is fixed landing gear which provides energy absorption in case of falling.
