Supersensitive seismic detector developed in Armenia

Armenian company PSI has developed a seismic detector that is superior in sensitivity to all such devices existing in the world.

According to the company representative Vardan Gevorkyan, this device records the weakest vibrations before an earthquake. Gevorkyan compared the invention to the hypersensitive skin of snakes. «Snakes have these sensors on their skin, they feel vibrations in the subsoil, go out of their holes before the earthquake, and escape. Humans don’t have this kind of sensors, but such devices will help predict earthquakes», - said Gevorkyan.

Currently, the company supplies the sensors to Singapore, but they want to establish a mass production. There is a need for a preliminary investment of US$ 250 thousand, which will enable to manufacture several dozens of seismic detectors, and to start factory production they need US$ 6 million.

The device is presented at the ongoing Venture conference in Yerevan.
