Reconstruction of the navigation safety system for the Gulf of Taganrog’s Eastern part completed

The reconstruction has been performed by the «Transas» group of companies.

As the press-service of «Transas» reports, two new additional automatic radio posts (ARPs) have been put into operation as part of the project, and the reconstruction of existing facilities and the system control centre has been done.

Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) of the Taganrog port was commissioned by «Transas» in 2005. At the beginning of the reconstruction it was composed of: the VTMS Control Centre at the port of Taganrog, the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress Safety System) Control Centre for area A1, ARP-1 at the Taganrog port, ARP-2 at Beglitskaya spit, and an automatic weather station at Veselo-Voznesenka village.

To extend the system operation area and improve the reliability and accuracy of piloting two new sites have been put into operation: ARP-3 «Pavlo-Ochakovo» and ARP-4 «Lotspost» (located at the 7th kilometre of the Azov-Don sea canal). New working places for pilot operators, review traffic displays have been deployed at the VTMS Control Center, server hardware has been upgraded.
