Istanbul hosts 9 million tourists in 2012
Istanbul hosted 8,728,880 tourists in the first 11 months of 2012 which corresponded to a 16.2% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, according to Istanbul Culture and Tourism Directorate statistics.
Figures show that 28,807,965 tourists visited Turkey and one in every four tourists preferred to visit Istanbul.
The number of Arab tourists hit record high with a 51.4% increase in 2012 compared to the same period previous year, with a total of 1,264,419 Arab tourists visiting Istanbul.
