15 km of national roads in Moldova continue to be blocked
About 15 kilometers of national roads in northern Moldova remain blocked. Approximately 200 local roads are impassable owing to the thick later of snow and a number of units of transport haven’t been yet taken out of snowdrifts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Maria Chitoroaga, head of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure’s press service, has told Info-Prim Neo that about 12 km of the M14 Brest – Briceni road, near Chiscareni village, are still impenetrable. There are also blocked sections of the R11 Ocnita – Briceni road, roads near Corestauti village and near Briceni town. The authorities hope that all the roads will be cleared of snow on December 19.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said that 20 vehicles are still blocked near Chiscareni, Sangerei, while seven trucks stopped in Cornesti, Ungheni. Nine settlements in the districts of Sangerei, Floresti, and Causeni continue to be disconnected from the power supply.
In connection with the unfavorable weather conditions, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the population not to travel on the public roads, especially towards the northern districts. If the trips cannot be avoided, the vehicles must be equipped with winter tires and chains for wheels. Those who remain blocked on the national or local roads should call 901.
