Draft law on salary raising for judges submitted to Moldovan Parliament
A draft law on gradual increase in salaries of judges of local trial courts, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Justice, Supreme Magistracy Council and of the Constitutional Court was submitted by the presidential administration to the Parliament.
According to the presidential press service, the draft law fits into the reform strategy of the justice system, scheduled for the next five years. The salary rises will depend on the courts in which they serve and on their personal length of service.
In line with the above-mentioned document, judges will receive monthly sums equivalent to 3-5 average salaries, plus 20% salary increments in case they hold leading posts.
According to the press service of the president, this law is needed to efficiently combat corruption in the judicial system, to improve the performances of the Moldovan courts, to ensure the genuine independence of judges and to secure the law supremacy in the country.
The additional expenses for the implementation of this law will stand at 5.49 million in 2013, at 6.17 million lei in 2014 and at 6.82 million lei in 2015.
