Moldova to open embassies to Canada, Netherlands in 2013
Moldova will open embassies to Canada and Netherlands in 2013. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Vlad Filat on December 24, while presenting a report on the government's activity in 2012.
«We will consolidate our diplomatic capacity, inclusively by opening embassies,» Filat said. He also said a Moldovan embassy to Qatar will be opened in the near future.
Filat spoke about Moldova's foreign politics as well. According to him, Moldova has led a rather active foreign policy both in the West and East. «We have made a decisive step in 2012, as regards the completion of the negotiations on an association agreement and the creation of a free trade zone with the EU. The fact that Moldova made one step closer to a visa free regime with the EU was a major achievement in this respect,» Filat said.
Filat said Moldova continued to develop bilateral ties in 2012 with several states around the world, such as China, Russia, the USA and some Arabic states.
Filat said the Moldovan government wants Moldova to meet the necessary requirements in order to obtain a visa free regime with the EU in 2013.
