Bulgaria ranks 42nd in new index of human freedom
Bulgaria ranks 42nd in terms of human freedom in the new comprehensive index of human freedom published by the Canadian institute Frazer and the German Liberal Institute.
With a total score of 7.6 points, Bulgaria is placed almost in the middle of the ranking, which includes 123 countries. Countries such as Italy and Lithuania are placed ahead of Bulgaria, whereas Slovenia, Cyprus and South Korea are behind Bulgaria in this ranking.
The evaluation of Bulgaria shows preponderance of the personal and civil freedom over the economic one, which is typical for the highly developed countries, especially the European ones. The problematic fields in Bulgaria in terms of personal and civil freedoms which were highlighted in this edition are no surprise. These are the scantily guaranteed personal freedom and the uncertainty in regard to the freedom of speech and the freedom of media.
