Putin allocates 4 trillion rubles to build new ships for Russian Navy
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on January 10 that 4 trillion rubles have been allocated to the Russian Navy. The navy will spend this money on buying new ships.
«Upgrading the fleet is one of the top priorities of our work to strengthen the armed forces,» Interfax quotes Putin as saying.
Putin noted that by 2020 the navy fleet will be joined by eight Borey strategic submarines and 8 multi-purpose Yasen nuclear submarines. Sevmash will be the main contractor.
