Romanians investigated for Armani warehouse robbery

Ten Romanians are being investigated by the Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Unit (DIICOT) for having stolen 1,400 clothing items from an Armani warehouse in Verona in December last year. The stolen clothing, part of the spring 2013 collection, was worth some EUR 2 million and was sent to Romania via rapid courier.

The clothes had price tags of EUR 1,400 to EUR 2,000 a piece. The Police recovered 95 percent of the goods following house searches earlier in January, according to DIICOT.

The robbery took a fairly small amount of time, as the suspects managed to neutralize the security systems quite ingeniously, according to the Police. The suspects then sent the goods in seven different consignments to the country, to members of the same network.

Two of the Romanians were already arrested in Italy, and the third is being searched.
