Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway to be completed by the end of the year
According to the plans, the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be completed in 2013. Total investments for the project have already reached $ 430 million, Business Georgia informs.
The laying ceremony for the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway took place in 2007 with participation of Presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
The project aimed to connect Beijing with London with a railway and to restore the historical Silk Road.
The 160 km line has been already renovated, and a new 20 km line has been laid.
The completion of the project will enable the direct transportation of cargoes from China to Europe.
