New Bulgarian Patriarch to be elected on February 24

The new Bulgarian Patriarch is to be elected at a church council meeting on February 24th, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has announced.

This is in accordance to a decision of the Church taken on November 27th, 2012. On February 3 a memorial service was held in the St. Alexander Nevski cathedral in Sofia for late Patriarch Maxim, who passed away in the beginning of November at the age of 98.
