20th İzmir European Jazz Festival to offer 10 concerts
The İzmir European Jazz Festival will mark its 20th year with 10 concerts from March 4-20, the Anatolia news agency reported last week.
The festival, organized by the İzmir Foundation for Culture, Arts and Education (İKSEV), will offer performances by jazz musicians from across Europe as well as Turkey.
It will open on March 4 with an orchestral jazz concert by the Kerem Görsev Therapy Project, featuring Alan Broadbent as conductor.
Other performances will include the Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet on March 6, the David Hellbock Trio on March 7 and the François Corneloup Trio on March 14. The festival will close with a concert by the Mauro Grossi Quintet on March 20.
The concerts will be held at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASM). While tickets for most of the performances are available for purchase online from Biletix, on March 18 and 19 there will be free concerts by the Open Jazz Orchestra, for which tickets can be obtained at the AASM box office.
In addition to these performances, the festival will also include a seminar entitled «Contrabass: Box of Treasure» by jazz historian Francesco Martinelli and a photography exhibition titled «Magic of Jazz,» by Aykut Uslutekin. For more information, visit www.iksev.org
