Turkey to start Akkuyu nuclear power plant construction in 2014
Director General of the Akkuyu NGS A.Ş. Alexander Superfin said construction of the power plant in Turkey will start in early 2014. An ecological report for the power plant will be released in May.
Akkuyu is planned to start electricity production in 2020. It will produce 4.8 GW at the first stage of launch.
Akkuyu will be built using the four Russian WWER-1200 reactors. The deal to build the facility was signed in May 2010. Turkey will have a total of $7.5 billion invested in the project. It will be worth $20 billion in total.
