Sochi to be the center of MICE-tourism
On February 21, at the meeting of the public council on preparation for the Olympics, the Deputy Minister of Culture Andrei Busygin noted that the Cultural Olympics “Sochi 2014” might turn the resort into the event tourism center (MICE-tourism) and preserve its status of the cultural capital.
He reminded that, starting from 2010, the Cultural Olympics “Sochi 2014” has taken place in Russia. Each of these years has been devoted to one type of arts. 2010 was the year of cinema; then there were the years of theater and music, while the pre-Olympics 2013 became the year of museums. Over this period of time both the resort and the entire country have conducted dozens of the all-Russian cultural events and a number of local arrangements.
At present the formation of the event schedule for the final year of the Cultural Olympics is close to completion, and the schedule itself will be presented to the Russian Government for approval.
