Tourism brought Turkey more than it expected by $6 billion
The year of 2012 brought Turkey almost $30 billion of income from tourism. According to the updated data, announced by the State Statistics Institute of Turkey, the annual income of this industry amounted to $29.3 billion.
In 2012 the Turkish Institute used a new calculation technique, adopted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Eurostat. According to this technique, the tourism income also includes costs for international transportation, booked via local companies, marine services, and GSM-roaming. Thus, the total income exceeded the expected results by $5.9 billion.
