Moldovan premier, heads of public medical institutions discussed healthcare system reform
Prime Minister Vlad Filat met on February 28, 2013 the heads of the public medical-sanitary institutions, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Attending the meeting were Health Minister Andrei Usatii, the head of the Mother and the Child Healthcare Centre, Stefan Gatcan, the head of the Clinical Dermato-Venerological Hospital, Iulian Oltu, the head of the Emilian Cotaga Hospital for Children, Mihai Stratilă, the head of the Toma Ciorba Infectious Diseases Hospital, Victor Deatisin, the head of the Republican Clinical Hospital, Sergiu Popa, the director of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospital, Ion Moldovanu and the director of the Cardiology Institute, Mihail Popovici.
The officials discussed the reforms launched in the healthcare system and the modernization of the hospitals.
Filat specified that the reforms are meant to improve the quality of medical services and the citizens will have only to benefit from them.
“The goal we have set was a correct one. We have to make reforms in order to get to a functional system. I want that we have discussions, as well as good results,” Filat said.
For his part, Usatii assured that the set goals were aimed at increasing the citizens access to quality medical services.
The heads of the medical institutions noted the need to implement reforms in the healthcare system focusing on the state’s and the people’s interest.
At the end of the meeting, Filat asked Usatii to withdraw the order on the merging of medical institutions of same activity area and specified that the subject needed additional examination with the participation of all those related to the issue.
