KBR designs Karadag oil refinery

KBR, a US engineering company, signed a contract with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in March to design a new oil and gas refinery in the Garadag District of Baku, 1news.az cites David Zelinsky of the US company.

The new refinery will also have a petrochemical complex and will become the first joint-stock project of the SOCAR and KBR. It should be launched in 2020.

The facility will process 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually at the first stage. It will increase output by 10 million tons of oil annually. The refinery complex is worth $13-17 billion and will pay off in 6-7 years.
