Ukraine increased grain exports by 5 million tons up to 18.2 million tons

Since the beginning of 2012/2013 marketing year (MY) domestic farmers supplied to foreign markets 18.2 million tons of grain, which is 5 million tons more than in the same period of the previous MY. Corn keeps the leadership in exports, nearly 10 million tons of which were supplied abroad, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nikolay Prisyazhniuk said.

"In particular, as of March 11, farmers exported 9.7 million tons of corn, almost 6.2 million tons of wheat and 2 million tons of barley," – an official said.

According to him, Ukraine continues to maintain stable growth of grain exports allowing selling the projected volume of exports. "In 2012/2013 MYwe expect grain exports at the level of 23 million tons", - Prisyazhniuk said.
