Austria opens Embassy in Moldovan capital
The Embassy of Austria was officially opened in Chisinau on March18 in the presence of Reinhold Lopatka, State Secretary in the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, who is paying a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Republic of Moldova Michael Schwarzinger said at the ceremony that Moldova is waited for in the European family of nations, and he is glad that with the opening of an embassy in Chisinau, Vienna has become closer to Chisinau.
Moldova’s Acting Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said that the Austrian Government’s decision to open its diplomatic representation in Chisinau in a period so hard for Moldova is perceived by the Moldovan leadership as a good-will gesture.
The Austrian diplomatic mission has become the 20th foreign embassy in Chisinau.
In the framework of his visit to Moldova, State Secretary Reinhold Lopatka visited a social center called «A House of Hope» in the Dubasarii Veche Village (Criuleni Raion). The Center has become home for 15 old people. It is financed by the Government of Austria and the non-governmental organization of Concordia.
In the course of his visit to Moldova, Reinhold Lopatka confirmed his country’s intention to further support Moldova in the spheres of education, management and other essential spheres.
