Number of reserve territories in the Crimea increased

The Crimean Supreme Council has approved the changes in the local level natural reserve territories and botanic monuments of nature.

According to this document, the following will be established: local level botanic wildlife preserve “Papaia-Kaia" and landscape and recreation parks “Donuzlav", “Cape Takil”, “Bitak”, and “Atlesh”.

Dmitry Tatarov, Chairman of the Crimean Republic Committee on environmental protection, says that we need to have at least 10% of preserve territories to achieve the ecological, social, and economic balance.

At present the area of natural reserve territories and objects at the peninsula is 8.3% from the total area of the Autonomy.
