Russian Black Sea Fleet to get another submarine

In 2013 «Admiralty Shipyard» will launch «Novorossiysk» submarine, which will enlarge the war strength of the Black Sea Fleet. Submarines of this project are notable for their high performance characteristics, presence of the state-of-the-art navigation and communication systems, and powerful missile and torpedo armaments.

Designers of the Central Marine Hardware Design Bureau «Rubin» have introduced a number of improvements into the vessel’s design.

Another two submarines of this project — «Rostov-on-Don» and «Staryy Oskol» – will be launched in the nearest future. The plans for the Black Sea Fleet include another 3 submarines of «636.3» project, which have not been laid yet.

According to the Fleet press service, by 2017 the war strength of the Black Sea Fleet will get the total of six new diesel and electric submarines of «636» project.
