The cabinet in Sofia has received confirmation by the European Commission that it would launch an inspection of the Bulgarian energy sector.
The inspection starts next week and will be managed by officials from the Energy Directorate General of the EC. The experts will examine the legislative framework and the structural units in the country’s energy sector as the goal is to identify the most important issues in the sector. The inspection will focus on the scope of authority and independence of the national regulator, the structure and activity of the national energy market as well as the pricing methods in the energy sector.
