Ukraine plans to reconstruct Bug-Dnieper-Liman canal
Ukrainian Government intends to reconstruct Bug-Dnieper-Liman canal to raise its traffic capacity for loading of Handymax (deadweight of 50 thousand tons) and Panamax (deadweight of 70 thousand tons) dimension type vessels.
At present vessels may load approximately 45 thousand tons only to go through this canal, portnews.ru reports.
According to Vice-Prime-Minister Oleksandr Vilkul, by 2027 the freight flow via the Ukrainian ports may be increased by 50 million tons – from 160.600 million to 210.6 million tons.
