No solution of Bulgaria’s and Romania’s Schengen bid this year
By the end of 2013 no solution is expected on the bid of Bulgaria and Romania to join the Schengen area, an anonymous diplomatic source has announced from the EU Council.
In his words the issue has become an entirely political one, no solution is seen so far and that some of the countries hampering the achievement of unanimity on the matter are Holland, Germany and France. According to the diplomat this situation would not change even if by the end of the current year the reports of the European Commission under the mechanism for cooperation and monitoring are positive.
However, there could be no question about not keeping to agreements, according to which as of January 1, 2014 Bulgarians and Romanians should have full access to the labor market across the EU.
