Hail and windstorm affects five villages in Kakheti
Five villages have been gravely affected by an unusually long-lasting hail and windstorm in the Gurjaani district of the Kakheti Region on May 15 night.
Locals say the hail lasted half and hour, while the windstorm for a whole hour. The disaster flooded ground floors of the houses, destroyed vineyards and fruit gardens and killed poultry. Roads have been also damaged in the villages.
The heavy rain has caused a river to swell in the Kolagi Khevi. The water ruined the bridge connecting Vejini and Kolagi villages, which caused suspension of traffic for a few hours. Currently, the traffic has been resumed. Special commission begins to count the damage.
