Ukrainian container ports intensify grain transshipment

In the 1st quarter of 2013 the Ukrainian container ports built up grain transshipment by 4.5 times as compared with the similar period of 2012.

According to Sergey Petrenko, Deputy Manager of the Economic Development and Agricultural Market Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine, 4.995 thousand containers with the grain were transshipped in the 1st quarter of 2013. Both Odessa and Illichivsk ports have raised the transshipment results.

702 containers with the grain were transshipped at the Illichivsk container terminal, and 4.293 thousand units – via the Odessa port.

The weight equivalent of the containerized grains amounted to 113.8 thousand tons, cfts.org.ua informs.
